Septic Systems

There are three separate septic systems. The first system serves Top House and its septic field is in the back yard of Top House. We keep the surface of the septic bed as habitat, leaving only paths through it - it makes the view from the deck rich with wildlife.

The second and third systems allowed us to ‘future proof’ The Cedars, providing approved waste management services that would be available for any future needs. They are located behind Westwind. The second system serves Birds, Thistledown and Deep Shade. The third system serves Cookhouse, Westwind, and any potential new building. Both of these systems are designed to deal with more than the current needs of The Cedars.

At one end of the septic system, there are enclosed raised beds for veggie gardening. The other end is levelled nicely for tents or for a game of croquet!

All three beds blend in with the local environment.
